“ Leadership lessons & a Barbell Bar? "
What could a piece of metal teach you about leadership? As it turns out, quite a few.
It teaches you to be a Servant first. You quickly learn, if you think "serving is beneath you, then leadership is beyond you"
It teaches you to build comfort around being uncomfortable. You know, the feeling of something cold, hard, rusty rough surface which rips your skin off, leaves you with calluses, coarse swollen palm each time Now compare that with having to LOVE those under your care. Even if you dont LIKE them
It teaches you to use your fear as a COUNSELOR: You know the bar is unforgiving & leave your palm bleeding & numb for days.
But you know you've GOT TO ignore that fear and move that weight on the sides of the bar to grow (either by pulling it upwards or holding on to the bar while YOURSELF up) Now, imagine the weights as those under your care - you have been put in-charge of their development, which impacts the organization (your employees & customers by extension)
So, is your leadership BAR tested?
